What is Netflix’s Supacell about?
Netflix‘s Supacell is a sci-fi drama series following the story of five ordinary people with newfound superpowers.
Getting to grips with their superpowers while juggling everyday life presents its challenges for each of the main characters, but delivery-man Michael is determined to connect with the others to change his fiancee’s fate.
The synopsis reads: “A group of seemingly ordinary black people from South London, unified by a family history of sickle cell disease, unexpectedly develop superpowers.
“They discover each other, and fend off entrapment by a secret organisation seeking to control them.”
The series was created by rapper Andrew Onwubolu, aka Rapman.
Who is in the cast of Supacell?
Adelayo Adedayo as Dionne
Adelayo Adedayo plays the role of Dionne in Netflix’s Supacell.
You may recognise the British actress from some of her other acting credits.
She was in BBC Three sitcom Some Girls and the ITV2 series Timewasters.
In 2023, Adedayo was nominated for a British Academy Television Award for her performance in The Responder.
Nadine Mills as Sabrina
Nadine Mills appears in the Netflix series as Sabrina.
Supacell is the actress’ second ever TV appearance.
Despite being a relatively new TV actress, she has also had roles in Pay Day, The Strangers and The Weekend.
Tosin Cole as Michael Lasaki
Tosin Cole takes on the character of Michael Lasaki in Supacell.
He is an American-born British actor and began his career on The Cut and EastEnders.
He went on to secure the role of Neil Cooper in Hollyoaks.
Josh Tedeku as Tazer
Josh Tedeku has starred in multiple roles in recent years including as Tazer in Supacell.
He found fame starring in the likes of A Town Called Malice, Boarders and Doctors.
Calvin Demba as Rodney
Calvin Demba is playing Rodney in Supacell.
He is an actor, writer and director.
He is known for his roles in the Hollyoaks, Youngers, and Life.

Will there be a second series of Supacell and what has Rapman said?
The final scenes that feature Michael hatching a plan for revenge on the hooded hunters suggests that the story doesn’t end with season one.
A second series of Supacell has not been confirmed but the creator has said he has plenty of ideas.
Rapman, who was the first Black filmmaker to write and produce an original series for Netflix, has confirmed that he has plans to create three seasons.
Speaking to UniLad Rapman said: “I’ve told Netflix loads of times that I’ve got plans for multiple seasons.
“But you know how it goes, they’re gonna see how it does, and hopefully we get the next season.
“I told them, I’ve got a three-season idea story in my head. So, I got three, not saying it could never go over, but I’ve got three stories, these three seasons in my head, of where I know where the story goes.”
Before commissioning a renewal of a series, Netflix will analyse how the instalment performs.
Season one premiered on June 27, 2024 and soared to the top of Netflix’s Top 10 TV shows.
